Let me introduce the cool kid on the block: Meatless District has that New York-ish vibe and a changing, but never disappointing, menu. The owners are super kind and the food has never tasted bad.

  • Mostly organic

Sla is based on the New York concept of the salad bar. With five restaurants in Amsterdam and one in Utrecht, it offers you a healthy lunch or dinner option. On the menu you’ll find salads, soup, healthy juices, raw & vegan cakes and organic wines. The menu offers you a vegan and a glutenfree option indicated by a symbol. The salad-options change each season, since they only use local fruits and vegetables. If you don’t fancy any of the salad options, you can go ahead and put your own salad together. For only €8. Oh and the soups are delicious as well!

You can find the menu on their website, here.

In a former cinema built in the roaring 20s – called Ceintuur Theater – you’ll find CT coffee & coconuts, a funky and fresh place with a great interior. You’ll find lots of youngsters with their Apple laptops that use this place as their office. Start your day with an Acai bowl or some coconut pancakes accompanied by a fresh coconut or a cup of herbal tea. Make sure you make a reservation, it’s usually very crowded.

Check out their menu here.

In the middle of the Amsterdam city centre you’ll find the French/Arabic restaurant Bo Cinq that is known for its good food and cocktails. On the menu you’ll find lots of meat, fish and meals with milk and gluten. The restaurant noticed lots of clients asking for vegan options and so they came up with a completely vegan menu. That is also gluten free!

The perfect place to have dinner with friends, relatives or colleagues that have a different eating pattern. Important to know: you won’t find the vegan menu on the regular menu, so you’ll have to ask for it.

For €32,50 you’re having:

Ceviche from avocado with orange
Spoom of passion fruit with sweet and sour vegetables
Quinoa on a ‘Arabic carpet’ of pommegranate salsa (as shown on the picture above)
Fresh fruit with a virgin mojito sauce

Ticket to the Tropics! But in the middle of Amsterdam East. Plants everywhere and cool decorations. Come here for breakfast, lunch, dinner or cocktails. There aren’t a lot of vegan options, but I tried Chia Pudding and that was very nice. To give an example: they also serve kroketten or toasts with fruit and maple syrup.

Looking for vegan (or even vegan ánd gluten free) pizza? Mastino in Amsterdam has just that. Don’t forget to bring your wallet, because the prices go from €15 to €22 for one pizza. I tried making a reservation via e-mail twice and then via Instagram ánd Facebook but never got a response. The Italian guy working at Mastino V made up for that by being super nice.
