How to: organize a bachelorette (hen) party in Amsterdam

Gabrielle Koster

My dear friend Lily got engaged this summer. So what better way to celebrate that than with a bachelorette party? Here are my tips for throwing a (classy) hen party for your engaged friend!

Book a fancy hotel

A place to relax, a place to get ready for a party and to come home to and get some sleep: a good hotel is definitely a necessity when organizing a bachelorette. We booked two rooms with a door in-between (so basically, one big room) at the beautiful Park Plaza Victoria hotel near Central Station in Amsterdam. The building is beautiful and the rooms are simply perfect. We decorated the place with garlands, fixed kimono’s that said ‘Bride to be’ and ‘Team bride’ and some confetti. Victoria Hotel Park Plaza was aware of the bachelorette and put beautiful flowers and balloons in the room. Add in some macarons, strawberries and other yummy foods and the room was basically perfect. Lily was so surprised when she saw the beautifully decorated room!

Dinner and drinks

Nothing as important as good food, nice drinks and fun conversations. Book a fancy dinner with bubbles and the night starts off exactly right! We had a lovely dinner at 5&33, which is located next to the Victoria Park Plaza Hotel. The ambiance is perfect, the food is delish (if you’re vegan, definitely try the beetroot salad and if you like cheese, then go for the Truffle dish, like my friends did). You can grab a fancy cocktail after dinner or before dinner at the cozy bar where a dj plays great music and where the vibe is good.

Karaoke, clich√©? Mais non! Whether you visit an old bar near the Red Light District or visit an Asian place with a private karaoke room: karaoke is fun. We booked a private room and Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, Jennifer Lopez en Whitney Houston blasted through the speakers as we sang (or screamed…) along. So much fun!

Go dancing

End the night with a party at one of the many clubs in Amsterdam. We prefer RnB and hiphop, so places we would go are Jimmy Woo, SugarFactory, Chin Chin club, Melkweg or Bitterzoet. We ended up at the Chin Chin club and danced our feet off.

Room service please!

No better way of waking up then by roomservice! Park Plaza Victoria Hotel definitely turned our breakfast into a big party. They decorated the food cart with balloons and brought champaign and delicious food (there were muffins, just saying). I mean, look at that!

We all definitely had an awesome weekend and Lily enjoyed her lovely bachelorette. We can’t wait for the next of our group to get married, just so we can organize the next bachelorette ;).
