Looking for natural make-up? Here’s what I use

Gabrielle Koster

If you’ve been reading my blog posts, you know that more than 50% of what you put on your skin, you absorb. That goes for skin care, but also for make-up. That’s why, next to natural skin care, I only use natural make-up. Here’s what you need to know about the products I use.

Mineral powder

People are very often surprised about how well mineral powder works. To me, it covers as much as foundation does, but it’s a lot less heavy on your skin (aka it looks super natural) and if you get the natural mineral powder, it’s not bad for your skin at all. I recently discovered Bellápiere Cosmetics. It’s completely free of harmful chemicals, cruelty free (no animal testing!) and has won the Natural & Organic awards in 2017 for Best Natural Cosmetic Product. My favorite product? The Mineral Powder with SPF 15. But the Banana Setting Powder is amazing as well. Check their products out here.

Eyebrow pencil

Ere Perez has the best eyebrow brush that is natural. The colors are really great as well. I also got this from NourishedNederland.com. Very often when I don’t feel like make-up, I do ‘fix’ my eyebrows by coloring them a bit darker.

I’ve been testing quite some natural mascara’s, but not everyone does what it promises. Thankfully, there are a couple of awesome natural mascara brands out there. My favorites? Beauty Without Cruelty and Green People.

Other products

I don’t use a lot of other products, but when I go to a party I use some mineral bronzer (Bellápiere has that as well). When you buy new make-up, don’t be scared of the following common ingredients:

  • Tocopherol (Vitamin E)
  • Helianthus Annuus (sunflower oil)
  • Cocos Nucifera (coconut oil)
  • Simmondsia Chinensis (jojoba oil)
  • Prunus Amygdalus (Dulcis) means (sweet) almond oil
  • Prunus Armeniaca (abricot oil)
  • Olea Europaea (olive oil)
  • Potassium Sorbate (developed from sorbic acid)
  • Magnesium Silicate
  • Iron Oxide
